Lol I'm a Slav and I'm darker than many students of Arabic/Hispanic orgin (especially Hispanic, they can be very pale) on my uni.
And Hispanic women tan themselves even if they have darker skin tone.

It's very, very true. It's actually true for every single human feature. People with straight hair want to have curly hair and people with curly hair want to have straight hair. People dye their natural hair color. Women with big breasts want to have smaller breasts and women with small breasts want to have bigger breasts. People with curvy silhouettes want to be super tiny and tiny people wants to be curvier. For some reason people always want things they don't have.
OP: I think that nor tanning nor bleaching is self-hate if people do that wisely. Everything is for people. Self-hate starts when a white girl leaves solarium charred a'la Donatella Versace and a black girl ends up being Katy Perry white after bleaching.
