Celeb News: Adele crashed Ticketmaster; 10million+ fans rush for tickets

I know it must be frustrating to read or see in the news that we crashed during Adele’s onsale and that fans are upset with Tm because they couldn’t get tickets. I want you all to know that [Live Nation CEO] Michael [Rapino] and I, and more importantly our partners, know just how well the systems (and you all) performed yesterday. Thanks to your efforts -- even with what I’m told was easily an all-time record of 10 million + fans rushing to our site -- we delivered a good experience for as many fans as possible.

Unfortunately, when there is such a exceptional artist with unprecedented demand against short supply, there are inevitably going to be disappointed fans. As you know, artists are the center of Live Nation and we work side by side with them to meet their goals. In this case, we worked with Adele’s team to help achieve their goal of having a consistent set-up across all the different ticketing companies that were selling dates on her North American tour. Although that has clearly created confusion with fans and ultimately the media on what happened on which sites, we wanted to make sure you know just how much we appreciate your incredible preparation and that we are pleased with how we did.

As we reflect on another amazing year, please know that your progress in the area of site stability and abuse prevention are making an indelible mark on our company’s position as the global leader in live entertainment. I am appreciative and proud of your efforts.

most of the visitors were undoubtedly from ticket bots. It isn't surprising there would be such a high number of visitors since scalpers are aware of how many people are buying her music right now, and more bots = better chance at getting good seats and tickets that people release from their cart. As if the GP pays attention to ticket release dates...

You think the entire population of NYC and some was perched at their computers the moment they went on sale?

ticket bots use thousands of proxies to access Ticketmaster, considering the calculated demand of an Adele concert from her current sales it's not surprising that her shows would attract more scalpers with more bots.

This number merely shows that scalpers are aware of the likely demand of an Adele concert next year

That's alot. Considering there's around 60 dates and each arena has about 20000 seats. That's a liddo over 1 Million. So like another 9 Million didn't get tickets

LYKE I'm not denying that her shows were more in demand than the usual concert, she is obviously a hot commodity right now, I'm just saying that there weren't 10 million real people trying to buy tickets

as this article points out, bots account for over 60% of tickets sold for concerts.

I mean good for ha but it wouldn't surprise me if she ends up with empty seats because of scalpers asking too much. The ticket industry is very ****ed up.

NYC has 8 million (and their metro has 23+ million people); only 4 million were trying to get tickets. I get what you're saying though. That doesn't mean she didn't have record-breaking demand.
