I believe Trending implies someone/something having a big rise, not overall the most popular.
So he had the 3rd biggest increase in hits, I think, not that he's the #3 searched.
For example, the #4 trending music artist was Eazy-E, but I doubt he was the #4 searched overall. Same with #4 actress being Rumer Willis over, say, JLaw.
Or the T5 trending shows are all new shows, while I'm pretty sure the likes of Game of Thrones and Walking Dead were more searched than the likes of Better Call Saul.
