Those are the pits too, but being gay and Republican tells me they actually had to think their political beliefs through in depth if they are willing to support something which doesn't always line up with their social life.

I'm not a Republican at all... However, it has become apparent especially lately that (possibly the majority) Americans don't think their beliefs through at any depth, and then passionately support those beliefs. I'm just promoting thought.

Gay republicans might be wrong, but it's absolutely wrong to trash them. I disagree with them when it all comes down to it, but I commend them actually giving the usually social opposing side thought as far as non-gay issues go.

Gay people who are Republican in terms of gay issues are a different story. That tells me that the person is either trying to be edgy for attention or they've been brainwashed by a conservative mindset their whole life to the point that they have yet to attain empathy for their own kind.

That's not how it works. Gender identity and sexual orientation are two separate characteristics.

Caitlyn herself is now a woman, but has not spoken about her sexuality. She only has a history, as a former man, of being with three women. She's not automatically a lesbian. It's for her to identify herself, and at this point I don't think she knows.

Expecting all LGBT people to be democrats takes away from the individualism of lgbt. Just like people are mad at Caitlyn Jenner for being a republican when I dont know why anyone finds it surprising..

"They only care about themselves!!" What? wouldn't that more likely apply to gay democrats who only care about gay rights?

Or they simply have a different understanding of what reproductive rights are.

Chastising a gay man or female for being a republican is inane. We don't know the reasons why people lean politically one way. Maybe they want to be involved so they can transform the party to be more inclusive, but still advocate for conservative fiscal policies.

Race and economic status speak more than sexual orientation. Those aforementioned factors will play a bigger part in their political views. So although I cannot find a plausible reason to be a republican EVEN with social issues aside, it's not surprising at all.

Social policies are not the be-all, end-all of the political sphere for some people. Identification is far more complex than the naive black-and-white mentality festering in this thread would suggest.

No not really. I've seen a lot of gay people support other minorities, like women , blacks, Hispanics, etc. They obviously understand what it's like to be marginalized and have sympathy for other groups. And also being a part of a minority group does in fact affect the way they look at things economically. It's not all just social issues.
