Describing this thing to someone not invested in Rih is hilarious:
"Well Rihanna has been vacationing all year and hasn't released an album in forever, but now she is finally teasing it. You know....those creepy advertisements for Samsung from the AMAs....well they are also for Rihanna. So she put up this diary online. Well sort of online. You can only access it from your phone or if you do this hack on Chrome and occasionally a room representing one of her 8 albums will open. It doesn't seem like we actually do anything to open them and they just kind of pop open at random points in the week. There are codes hidden in the makeup of the website that lead to cryptic pictures with just text on them that we have to puzzle together. In these rooms there are usually some creepy/cool videos that don't say anything or have music in them and they usually have braille in them. Oh....I didn't mention that....yeah everything has braille in it even though it is all digital so it is useless to actual blind people. And the website links to an instragram of the keyholder who also has a twitter that mixes cryptic tweets and stick figure drawings of your profile picture. Occasionally he'll put weird locations on his insta and send us searching for life size versions of the rooms from the diary website. There (and through the mail) people get these keys (sometimes with confusing boxes) with codes on them. We still don't know what those due. But if you tweet the link to the website enough times you might get digital keys with codes on them and apparently those mean I get to see Rihanna in concert. I don't know when or where or what my seats are, but I think I won some tickets. And we still don't really know when the album is coming out....."
Everything here is completely factual, even if it is a bit cynical/pessimistic.
honestly, She has the image that she wants for her album. It's ready. This is her vision.
As for songs, majority, if not almost all, is already recorded and set. But she wants this era to be remembered and she knows she needs that clinch song that will draw the GP in more then she already has. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Without her fans, the casual listener, an A list artist is nothing. She's a smart girl. She's the millennial girl. She represents so many of us.
She's you and me. She's Rihanna.
