We all know this is the most acclaimed season. Anyone who says different is either delusional or just trying to be contrarian, let's be real.
It's just immaculate. Pure art from start to finish.
My question is it, what makes it SO good? What sets it apart from the other seasons? What does it have that other seasons dont?
It's amazing plot and twists you can't possibly expect?
The superb writing and character arcs?
The likable characters you learn to root for, even if they are all murderers?
The iconic quotes the seasons produced? "All monsters are human."; "If you stare into the face of evil, evils gonna look right back at you"; "It's mine."
Or the fact that we got to see Evans cakes? Discuss.
Yes @the Asylum love. The characters, the plot, the writing was all PERFECT, along with the tone of the season being set from the beginning and not shifting. It even had a great, satisfying ending. 10/10.
Asylum had characters I could actually care about. Sister Jude was mean, but it was hard not to sympathize with her. Her own personal demons lead to what she believed to be tragic consequences. Then we're was Lana, who went through the struggle and I was on the edge trying to see if she would survive or not. Her character was everything. The villains were good too, with Bloodyface being disturbing and Sister Eunice being enticing with every witty word.
Setting:
I truly felt like I was in an asylum. I loved how bat **** crazy everything was. Simple, yes, but I enjoyed how the camera would tilt in some scenes. It really seemed as though the viewer could have been in the asylum.
In short, it was oddly the most believable season.

I liked it but not as much as coven and freak show
I started watching AHS this season for Gaga, but decided to go back and watch the first 4 seasons. Last week I finished Murder House, and last night I finished Asylum.
I thought both were much better than Hotel. Murder House was a great first season, but Asylum really raised the bar. It was scarier than MH, and the character development from the beginning to the end was amazing. Jessica Lange absolutely slayed me for her performance as Sister Jude.
I'm about to start Coven and then next week Freakshow. I hope they're good seasons too.
