So, ya'll remember Martin Shkreli, the Pharma CEO/hedge fund manager who bought the exclusive Wu album for 2M.
Well, Shkreli, a hip-hop loving Brooklyn-ite, also had plans to
bail Bobby Schmurda out of jail
(
since his label won’t do it).
Quote:
“I’m a fan and I’m a business man,” he tells DX. “Look, the guy’s going to have to record for me if he comes out. I’ll just come out and say it… I’m not going to do this for free.
“To me, what I’m doing right now in the media,” Shkreli continues, “raising prices, all this ****, believe what you want, but it’s interesting. It gets people talking. At the end of the day, that’s what art is. I don’t know if I can translate the **** into rap or not, but I’ll try… In 500 years, they’re going to talk about rap the same way we talk about Shakespeare. I just want to throw my hat in the ring, that's all. I don’t want to make money.”

Shkreli has been in the media aplenty lately, as a Big Pharma Scrooge, because of pharmaceutical companies he founded called Retrophin and Turing. These companies license rights to old, obscure drugs and gouge their prices, like this one kidney stone drug that went from less than $2 a pill to $30 a pill over night

, or the AIDS drug that he acquired that was jacked up 5000% from $13.50 a pill to $750 a pill

.
Well now, the internet is erupting with glee because Shkreli has been
arrested for securities fraud, seems like he was using shares/money of Retrophin to pay off past debts related to the hedge fund companies he ran. In essence, he’s being accused of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
With any luck, Shrkeli will go up the river, and this will be his new face
Merry Christmas!
