I think it was mainly a thing in Europe, but Bebo was arguably the biggest social networking site in certain countries from 2005 till about 2008. Aside from the tragic slang/abbreviations and blatant overuse of "xoxoxox", I always found it to be far more interesting than FB ever was. It had way more customisation capabilities (i.e. Bebo skins) and really cool profile features like polls, quizzes, whiteboard and flashbox. Truly an iconic era in social media

kind of. When I was 12 or 13 I made one when I was visiting my cousins (in Detroit, not Europe lol), but no one had even heard of it back home so I never logged in again after those couple of days. Then I completely forgot all the login info but it was technically my first social media page lol
