Louisa Johnson: I’ll beat winner’s curse by working non-stop
Quote:
X FACTOR sensation Louisa Johnson has vowed to beat the show’s “winner’s curse” and become an international superstar.
The 17-year-old aims to buck a trend which has seen countless previous champions disappear without a trace.
Essex girl Louisa, set for the Christmas No1 with her cover of Bob Dylan’s Forever Young, is already got her sights set on sold-out arena tours and smash hit albums.
Speaking hours after her victory over rivals Reggie ’N’ Bollie at Wembley Arena on Sunday, she said: “In five years I want to be selling out arenas, have a few albums out and a big fan base that respects me.”
But if she is going to achieve long-lasting success, Louisa will have to break the X Factor “curse”.
Other than Little Mix and Leona Lewis, most of the previous winners have faded from memory.
Almost all of the show’s major success stories, including One Direction, Olly Murs and Ella Henderson, failed to clinch the crown.
Louisa, who is the youngest winner, said: “It all depends on the person. Little Mix have done really well and so did Leona.
“I am just going to work as hard as I possibly can and concentrate on myself. That is the only way to do it.
“I want my album to connect with the fans. Obviously I’m young and I don’t have a huge amount of life experience, so I want it to connect with other people.
“I’m really good at putting myself in other people’s shoes. I don’t know how, it’s just an instinct that I’ve got.
“I’ve never had my heart broken or anything like that, but I can connect with it. It’s a weird feeling. I understand other people. I feel like I’ve always had that.”
And Louisa’s determination to succeed means she’s even prepared to stand up to show supremo Simon Cowell, 56, if she feels his ideas for her music aren’t good enough.
She said: “Definitely. Even down to the littlest things, I want to know what I am doing and be in control.”
Louisa has already been compared to Leona Lewis, 30, who proved she had the X Factor in 2006.
Industry experts are predicting she could match the £6million raked in by the Bleeding Love singer during her first year as a pop star.
Ain't gunna happen tho. She'll only get promoted if the label wants to promo her, as the only ones that have got any long-term success (and outside of this country) from that show were 1D and Leona. My guess is that within the next 6 months nobody will give a shxt.
Technically the winners curse only affects males. None of the females were really affected by it, at least not at first. Sure Sam didn't have any hit singles, but her album was the biggest British female debut of 2014 (and 2nd by a female after Taylor, I believe).
I'm sure Syco will give her the best promo and will try hard to make her happen and I'm sure she will at least in the UK/Ireland. She is really determined and focused I have faith in the good sis
she sounds so... naive. "I don't have life experience but I'm REALLY good at understanding people. It's like, a gift! I also want to sell loads of records and have loads of fans! Oh and I need to be in control!" good luck to her I guess.
