She congratulates the likely election of Bosah. "There can't be true integration if there is no political representation, it is a missing task in Spain" she says. Consuelo is from Cali, Colombia, is also black and has been a member of the PSOE for more than a decade, and she is running with them in Madrid in the 18th list. "How will we feel represented if we are not visible nor we enter the institutions?" said the activist who worked hard for year with fellow activist Pedro Zerolo for immigrant rights.
She gives a man standing by a flyer at the San Antón Market. The man looks at her surprised: "To the Parliament? I thought only Spanish could run?" Cruz replies calmly "And who said I am not Spanish? We are 2 million citizen immigrants in Spain, didn't you know?"

The black/asian population in here isn't that huge, and very few people care about politics, so it's normal that it took this long. I'm glad this is changing, tho. People needs to feel like they are represented nowadays.

In no way. People here have learned to treat everyone the same, there is not a strong minorities representation on the media because there is not enough offer but we don't even touch America in terms of racism.

Immigrant influx only started like 15 years ago. Minorities were negligible before that.

If the population of visible Minorities/POC/Blacks was as big as in the USA, you will have more complains of racism. Of course you will hear and see more issues in the USA. Plus the USA has a very outspoken Minorities/POC/black population when it comes to these issues. Wait until the visible Minority/POC/Black population grows as big as the USA and then we can compare. There is Racism in any European country. I will actually say any country unfortunately. There will always be a marginalize group when it comes to race/ethnicity/religious/gender. Weather we like to hear it or not.

Is Germany Spain? Is Italy located in Spain? Am I italian and didn't notice? We don't have a serious issue with race discrimination, US does. Believe it or not, some countries are not just as messy with that problem. We might have corruption issues, el toreo and the Albert Rivera, but in what world is the racism in Spain comparable or higher than the american?
But I love Spain. But we can't hide the ugliness.
