Burt Reynolds: Charlie Sheen is HIV+ because he deserves it
Quote:
Burt Reynolds, the biggest box office star of the 1970s, has surprisingly harsh words for fellow actor Charlie Sheen who recently publicly announced that he is HIV-positive.
‘If you’re going to misbehave like that, then they’re going to get you,’ the 79-year-old Reynolds said this week on the British talk show Loose Women.
Sheen, 50, announced last month on NBC’s The Today Show that he is HIV-positive and is getting treatment.
‘His father (actor Martin Sheen) is a very, very decent man and a dear friend of mine, I feel bad for him,’ Reynolds claimed. ‘For Charlie, I don’t feel bad for him. He’s getting what he deserves. … If you’re going to misbehave like that, then they’re going to get you.’
‘He deserves it,’ he reiterated. ‘He misbehaved badly. Very badly. But you know when you’re that age, it’s tough. All those things are coming at you and it’s difficult.’
As for Sheen confirming his status on national television Reynolds said: ‘He’s handled it badly, I think.’
Reynolds, who has suffered health and financial problems in recent years, is promoting a new book But Enough About Me: A Memoir.
Deserves is too strong but y'know high risk actions have high risk consequences and i can see how it can be hard to be sympathetic to this very predicable outcome
