What do you think of community college ?

Anyone that chooses to educate themselves should be applauded, regardless of the college they attend.

It is a good deal. Do how ever many semesters you want, maybe get an associates then transfer to a 4 year institution. Maybe even work while going to classes

unless you're a genius brainiac or an all around good student (clubs, extracurriculars, job) I say community college would be the better choice considering the state of education and the cost of it today.

I regret not going to community college my first years while I figured out what I wanted to do. It's the cheapest option to get all your basics out of the way and not have to worry about them at a more expensive university. Plus, it's a good transition between high school and the full university experience.

nothing wrong with it. my local one has nursing programs that can be done in 2 years or other healthcare programs that can be done in less time.

if you are wanting to transfer to finish your bachelors then you can do your general classes for a cheaper price. just make sure the classes you take transfer to whichever school you want to go to.

and some community colleges actually have dorms if you want the roomate/on campus experience. u gotta look for them. i think people judge ppl who attend University's think they're on a "pedestal" than someone in a community college

My aunt is a radiologist who makes about $450K a year (and she doesn't share wtf) and went to two years of community, two years of a partnering 4 year college and then the rest.

There's nothing wrong with community college. Most of the people I know who attend it transfer every few semesters for the classes that one college does not have but other than that, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Plus, it's cheaper than a 4-year university.

agreed. and then they look dumb as hell with 50k+ debt and a useless major

people who go then transfer to four-year universities graduate with the same exact degree, only difference is they're in less debt and also have an associates (which can come in handy during college)

It's good idea to do your gen-eds at. Make sure the university you may want to go to accepts those credits though. It's great to do it for that, but I personally think you need to transfer to a somewhat accredited college/university for classes towards your major.

If your dream job doesn't pay well, save money on your tuition by going to community college. My cousin paid $30k a year for four years for a good school only to become a social worker. She makes that much a year

Also, ALWAYS make sure your classes transfer. It's no different than taking AP/IB classes in high school. You can save thousands by planning ahead and it is so worth it.

I agree with pretty much all the responses so far, it's a great thing for anyone who wants higher education without bankrupting themselves.

It depends on where you live. Some of them are really good while others are basically an extension of high school. Same with universities, it all depends on where you're going.

As someone go to a prestigious "name" university, I encourage everyone to get higher education. Anyone, especially from an elite school, who looks down on community college is trash and you don't need their opinion.

Like others have said, its a great, cost-effective way to get general requirements out of the way before finishing up at a 4 year institution.

When I was younger I thought it was bad. But now I realize it's a really wise decision and a good option.
