Yes. We know Britney's first album, along with many other albums back then, sold a lot (how could we not with as much as yall bring it up) during the peak of the album sales climate. What we are debating is whether the sales of that album are actually as big of a deal as yall make it out to be or if Britney was actually as big of a star as yall claim - the receipts are saying NO

Everyone didn't go 14x platinum or 10x platinum.
Jessica simpson went 2x platinum just like your fave did at his peak.
Sales are always going to be more valuable than algebraic equations to make low sellers feel better about weaker results.
Just an FYI...if your fave has strong airplay and still gets outsold by people that don't get played (per radio payola) that's not something to brag about.
The ones that pay radio to play their songs have even more advertisement of their songs.
Even the girls that brag about recurrent airplay have more advertisement.
yet their sales are still lagging.
the push ending in embarrassment. All that money wasted from label's for their faves to go 2x platinum or 4x platinum at their peak when taylor and adele are showing anything is STILL possible.
