The industry always has weird definitions for things, in the same way that they'll call a singer an 'Artist' but not a songwrtier, even though songwriting is obviously an artform.

Similar to how they might call the suggestion of stitching two tracks you didn't write 'songwriting', but in practice it really isn't.

), but if she's helping to structure or shape the song, helping to fit the pieces together and whatnot, then she is, at least, actively contributing to the creation of the song in a meaningful way. I'm not sure that I'd really agree that what is being described here is "songwriting," but I'm also not sure what else you could call it.

I've found her annoying ever since she came onto my radar writing for these girls, but it is actually kinda interesting to hear what it's actually like to do that.

Do you think this justifies taking a large percentage of royalties from people whose main source of income is royalties for songs they entirely wrote by themselves? Honest question.

Put another way, if you're working on a group report at school, and write the report entirely yourself, do you think it's OK for someone to come along and suggest that you switch around the order of some paragraphs and write something else at the end, and then present themselves to the class as having had a major role in the creation of the report, and get the same grade as you?
