In exclusive photos from People and an ET exclusive clip, Melissa Rivers is seen playing her late mother, Joan in the new Jennifer Lawrence drama, Joy. The movie tells the true story of Joy Mangano (Lawrence) and her rise from working-class mother to successful entrepreneur.
During what appears to be Joan’s QVC days, Melissa is the spitting image of her mother in a flawless portrayal. She spoke with ET about the experience and its emotional impact:
“I can’t watch myself, and especially like that. I think I was so focused on the details and trying to do a good job that it never hit me that I took this crazy emotional risk until I got home and went, ‘What did I just do?’”
The thought's cute but it's a bit of a mess, she didn't do Joan justice at all - I thought she'd have a killer Joan impression but instead she literally just did her own voice and all.
