Around campus and at work a few weeks ago I wore one.
I bought one and wore it while I was working (in the mall) once I heard about the Paris attacks, I had been wanting to for a while, that was a push tho.
A week later, Around campus and to my classes I wore one while my shirt was raised where my belly button was showing, making fun of the modesty for god part of it.
I have actually, I've done in class and all of my Muslim friends, both genders, laughed and didn't make any big deal out of it. I guess the context really matters, and your context was certainly unacceptable.

Mine was a joke as well though. For the most part.
I wore a shirt the other day that said believe with a huge santa clause on it and then wore a necklace with a cross on it. Relating the two.
