usually, credible charts analyst (like myself lol) do not include master and ringtone numbers into singles sales, bc they are per definition no singles sales.
Mariah has sold 65-67m singles worldwide without counting ringtone and mastertone sales.
Mariah's true singles total is really hard to compile, since her digital catalogue sales are basically unknown. All we know is, that ABMB has sold around 900,000 digital singles since 2003. We also have data for a handful more songs. But outside the US, her catalogue sales are unknown. Take Hero as an example which even went #1 in the UK due to an x-factor cover in the UK... must have sparked some sales, but those are also UNKNOWN. Or Without You her 2nd best selling digital catalogue singe in Germany.. which occasionally appears in the top 300 on Itunes not only here, but also in SUI, AUT or the Netherlands.. yet sales are completely unknown.
I also lost the data for her japanese singles sales.. i am sure Fantasy for example was at over 100,000 last time I checked. Canadian sales are completely unknown, also for AIWFCIY. Merry Christmas has exceeded 300,000 on soundscan tho.
People always act as if Mariah stopped being relevant in the year 2000-today.. and yet gurl has sold close to 20m digital singles in the USA alone since 2003 (40m total in the USA).
at the people trying to use digital sales in favor of Beyoncé. Mariah was big in the 90's, you know when iPods and iTunes didn't exist. You can't compare the two artists in that realm.
