I don't think he meant anything by his original comment. I think he was just over listening to her stuff and was ready to get to work on whatever they were supposed to be working on.
The truth is that I think that Jared Leto is just a tryhard Johnny Depp attempt of recreating an acting career pandering on Naruto emo fanboys that think that the Joker is somewhat of a second coming.
