Selena's new movie closing Sundance, early Oscar contender!
Quote:
Sundance 2016 has announced its Premieres line-up, and a very welcome surprise is Rob Burnett’s anticipated sophomore feature, The Fundamentals of Caring. Paul Rudd, Craig Roberts, and Selena Gomez lead the adaptation of Jonathan Evison’s best-selling novel.
Until now, the film had been known as The Revised Fundamentals of Caregiving, the same title of the book. But the announcement that it will screen in Park City next month reveals the new title, The Fundamentals of Caring. It also reveals that it has been given the honour of being selected as the Closing Night Film.
CLOSING NIGHT FILM
Having suffered a tragedy, Ben becomes a caregiver to earn money. His first client, Trevor, is a hilarious 18-year-old with muscular dystrophy. One paralyzed emotionally, one paralyzed physically, Ben and Trevor hit the road, finding hope, friendship, and Dot in this funny and touching inspirational tale.
No word yet on when we can expect to see The Fundamentals of Caring hit cinemas. Smart money says that it will get a strong pick-up at the festival. And there’s even a chance it will break out of Sundance as an early Oscar contender, like Whiplash, Brooklyn, and Boyhood in the past couple of years.
How close are they following the book? Bc if they are her character won't pop up until halfway through and doesn't really have an impact. The story is really suppose to be about Ben and Trevor
