I don't see it as her going against "tricks" in general if that's what you're going at because every artists and their labels do discount their music, be it on first week or on the 100th week.

She was simply speaking on the trick of putting EVERYTHING out there at once. She doesn't agree with THAT because, I guess, she prefers the more traditional method of starting an era. And her opinion on the surprise release only covers a small part of that statement. It was more about how media/music/journalism in general.
