But...I find those towns in Siberia both hella ugly, scary to live in but at the same time fascinating.
Norilsk...

It scares and amazes me how depressing it looks. It's a closed town meaning it's hard as hell to get in and also hella hard to get out of it if you live there. No roads leading out of the town connecting it to rest of the country. The only way you can leave is by boat or plane and plane tickets are expensive so it might take Norilsk residents years before they can afford to leave the place.
I read this in an article that I can't find now
Murmansk kinda looks pretty nice for an Arctic city. I'd visit it if I were rich.
