Considering "social-cultural-sexual minority" as "non completely normal" is hateful and wrong.

People and especially young lgbt people are killing themselves over this issue. There's a huge difference between being a sexual minority and not being considered "normal". Our sexual orientation should be a part of our personality, not everything that characterize us in the eyes of society. Having a diversity doesn't mean we are not normal and we shouldn't give a damn about the fact that a lot of straight people still doesn't consider us in the sphere of "normality". It is still wrong. No matter how many people think it. I have hope in the new generation and we are already seeing that young people are considering every sexual orientation as perfectly normal and natural. As it should be.

You know some of the reactions on her are idiotic. I'm really glad he came out and said this about his past views, it's something you don't hear much of.

He's saying I was wrong and through experience I learned what my mistakes were.

He's ancient, he's not going to have the vocabulary of our generation and it's obvious he's not filtered by 1000x PR people like we're used to.

It's not like homosexuality was normalized when he was a thing. I'm not sure why people are shocked or hurt here. I'm sure other straight artists during that time had that mentality. Some still have that mentality, unless they're on the DL or totally open-minded.

It's not right, but he was going to say something worse and then corrected himself. That actually impressed me. He is seriously the first celebrity/person i have ever seen who said something stupid then tried to reword it. Most idiots would just say it and then defend themselves as to why their comment is totally not homophobic all while implying you're a dirty ****sucker for questioning them.

That said, if I were the producer from 1964 and if times had been different, I would have shook Tom's hand and said "Nice meeting you, Tom. Sorry your career is over." and then proceeded to convince the label to drop him from their list.

He essentially said he got over it because he realized not everyone in the industry is gay, which is what he was afraid of. He thought that being gay was what was required to make it, but then he realized the producer he was working with just happened to be gay. I guess it's progress?
