GOP presidential candidates offer prayers — not solutions on gun control — after San Bernardino massacre
Quote:
Prayers aren’t working.
Another mass shooting prompted another round of silence Wednesday from GOP presidential candidates on the issue of gun control.
Instead, while the Democratic presidential wannabes were calling for stricter gun laws in the wake of the San Bernardino massacre, the Republicans were preaching about prayer.
Republican Responses
Quote:
“California shooting looks very bad. Good luck to law enforcement and God bless. This is when our police are so appreciated!” - Donald Trump
“Our prayers are with the victims, their families, and the first responders in San Bernardino who willingly go into harm’s way to save others” - Sen. Ted Cruz
“Praying for the victims, their families & the San Bernardino first responders in the wake of this tragic shooting" - Chris Christie.
“Praying for the victims, their families & the San Bernardino first responders in the wake of this tragic shooting" - Jeb Bush
“My thoughts and prayers are with the shooting victims and their families in San Bernardino" - Ben Carson
Democratic Responses
Quote:
“Horrifying news out of #SanBernardino. Enough is enough: it's time to stand up to the @NRA and enact meaningful gun safety laws.” - Martin O'Malley
“I refuse to accept this as normal. We must take action to stop gun violence now” - Hillary Clinton
"Mass shootings are becoming an almost-everyday occurrence in this country. This sickening and senseless gun violence must stop." - Bernie Sanders
There ain't nothing wrong with saying a prayer for the lost souls
The point is that the people doing so only offer their prayers. Words, no matter how well intentioned, are not accomplishing anything whatsoever when it comes to preventing the next mass shooting.
it's not an attack to religion, it's an attack to the attitude toward the problem of Republicans
it's literally there at the bottom if you read that far
Prayers dont actually do diddly squat.. what kind of backward mentality logic is this.. get real people. I cant believe people hide behind a mere prayer thing when uncertainty arises.
Its not an "attack on religion". Prayers did not prevent the shooting from happening. Prayers will not bring the victims back to life and prayers will not prevent similar attacks from happening in the future.
These politicians are in a position of authority, they can do something other than just "pray". That's why they're politicians in the first place.
