MOUNT HOLLY - A 17-year-old from Pemberton Township pleaded guilty Wednesday to sexually assaulting his grandmother in her home last year.
The teen entered the plea to second-degree sexual assault before Superior Court Judge Jeanne T. Covert and will be sentenced in January. The Burlington County Times is withholding his name to protect the victim's identity.
The hearing came after the case was waived from family court to adult criminal court. Assistant Burlington County Prosecutor Timothy Ellis said the plea deal calls for the teenager to be sentenced to four years in prison. He would have to serve about 3 1/2 years before being eligible for parole.
Through questioning by his court-appointed attorney, Bonnie Geller-Gorman, the teenager acknowledged that he physically assaulted his grandmother on Nov. 12 and forced her to have sexual intercourse with him.
