It's not even a bad thing. And you know I stan for Carly anyway. The truth is, you cross the next teen and their mother and ask them if they know if Carly has a new record out, they'll probably say no. As they say in the above article, she's had a shift change in audience, she's went from "radio trash" the music critic would brush off, to a critical darling achieving success with that and approaching online audiences like tumblr and ATRL, as clearly seen here. And what's the common denominator in ATRL and the music queens @ tumblr? A wide range of users are gay. Doesn't mean she can't be liked by younger, female audiences, but there's a reason certain other audiences are liking her now.
So in reality, when I picture a Carly Rae show in an small old theatre in downtown New York, young adult gays with Michael Kors bags seems about right.
