We don't ever see anyone claiming Beyoncé sold a million or 900k or whatever the first seven days of release; we always say -600k for the first week despite it only being three day so this shouldn't be any different.

I am pleased a cute person like Adele breaks all the records out there, including this one. Kinda hoping Noel or whatever comments on this. It's truly entertaining.

That BBC newsbeat guy is utterly clueless about era adjusted sales. Adeles sales are way way more impressive in a lousy climate for album sales. Does he not know about illegal downloading?

This is the chart Billboard used to show just how sales today compare to sales from 15+ years ago when you take all factors into consideration. Its for US sales but the logic can still apply to UK sales too. Adele's 800k is the equivelant of over 1.8 million UK sales using this formula. That may be an exaggeration but its certainly worth way over a million in old numbers.

Also, the official Oasis 7 day figure was actually 764k without panel sales.

Besides, is it even OFFICIAL that they sold 813k? I was reading it was an inflated number.

Its not even a noted record I dont think. He's trying it with the 3 day record and the 7 day record but neither of those are an actual thing. Its debut chart week sales that matters and Adele officially owns it. All the news outlets are reporting such and so will the record books.

"Panel sales" counted towards Oasis' 813,000 total, which is why the official and corrected total was soon adjusted down to 763,000. Adele hit 800,000 without any "panel sales," and in a much more depressed CD market. Besides, why do you drop the extra 50,000 off of the record for 15 plus years, and decide to add it back this week when Adele can't benefit from "panel sales"?

And I like many of Oasis' songs, especially "Champaign Supernova." But you can't and don't change the rules in the middle of the game when you see Adele is going to break the official record but not the inflated record.

And there is no way to comment on his biased editorial (not an actual article) either.
