I can't at Clarkson's taste right now.
Lucky is a straight up 10.
EDIT: And so is Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know!

Can't Make You Love Me: Thank God she picks up the slack here, even if, yet a-****ing-gain, we're back in OIDIA territory. Even if she resorts to the same tactics as a majority of the album, this is still somehow fresh and enjoyable.

When Your Eyes Say It: This gets better as it goes on, and is Brit's first successful foray into the world of R&B midtempos. The spoken outros are losing their touch at this point as well. It's good, not great, which is great for Brit.
Dear Diary: SO melodramatic... but cute. I can spare this because it encapsulates teenage romantic mindsets and 2000s pop, and doesn't do anything overly egregious.

Well White Houses is her best song. I started getting into her a little bit last month, I'd be down for reviewing an album of hers.

Overall: Overall, I should give this a lower score for resulting to the same tricks multiple times, as the album is essentially 3 songs remade several times, but those 3 blueprints are at least good and can be enjoyed a few times over. This really had potential to be Britney's 1989 filled with solid pop songs throughout, but she seems to have run to the same creative areas with the convoluted belief that everything she was doing was great.

Sam's Comments
Quote:
01. Popsicle – I’m Gonna Rise
I think the bridge is the highlight of this song. It definitely has a comeback theme but it was probably too predictable for a majority of the song with lots of familiar language and a lot of the rhymes were either obvious or forced. Lyrics such as, “You’re gonna hear my bass drum,” and, “Wake me up like caffeine,” were welcome non-obvious lyric choices and I would have liked to have seen more of those.
02. KeshasFansRose – Led Me Blind
I think you’ve submitted a nice song. If I had a main criticism it would be that I feel it focuses too much on the event that brought you down and not enough on the revival element or coming back from a bad place. It feels like you’re on the way to happiness, but not completely out the other side. I do appreciate that it wasn’t too obvious and cliché though.
03. EASE (DevonRoars) – King
You didn’t submit a title so I just assumed it was “King”, I think that’s a fitting title anyway. I can picture what this song would be like as an actual recording, it’d probably be a bop or even a rap Iggy Azalea “Heavy Crown” style, but lyrically it’s not your best submission. I felt it was a little bit weak and predictable for a comeback song but it was still a comeback song so you did okay.
04. ughgabriel – Portal
I thought you had a pretty interesting concept and I really liked that you didn’t take an obvious route. That said it felt a little less like a comeback and a little more like an avoiding the inevitable, but it still kind of fits. I can see where you were going. I think you had some good lyricism and a creative concept and overall you did a fine job. (Sam Note: the plural of passerby is actually passersby, Huga!)
05. MattyTacos – Serenity
This song is about having the desire to make a comeback, but it’s not actually a comeback song. Just wanted to state that first. Like I’ve said to some others, I do appreciate that you tried not to go down an obvious route, but there’s a difference between avoiding the obvious and missing the mark. That said I liked your song very much. Lyrically it’s the best so far. It would have been nice to even have a hint of the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ in the bridge, final chorus or outro, though.
06. RihsusChrist(ATG) – The Mountain
My main/only problem with this was that I think your pre-chorus was more of a verse, and I would have liked to have seen a second one of those with new lyrics, just to show off your lyricism more, because what you submitted was quite good. I like the imagery and I do get a revival vibe but it’s not so obvious, which is great. The spoken verse seems like a bridge too. So your main flaws are structural for me, but as a one-verse song this is pretty good.
07. Witch_Privelege – Set Me Free
I liked that you made note that the partner leaving the subject is what set them free, it’s better than just, “I found something else to help get over you,” or whatever. It was otherwise a little predictable, but that helped it. Changing entire pre-choruses and choruses aren’t my favourite thing but they’re not too bad. You definitely had a strong comeback theme so well done on that.
08. J P O W (jpow) – Icarus
The Icarus theme has been explored in PH quite a bit over various seasons, in fact I think it was even used this season once by inuborg (?), so it wasn’t as unpredictable as you were perhaps hoping. You did put a new spin on it though by saying, “Don’t worry about being Icarus,” so that helped. The comeback element isn’t so strong, the rise definitely is but it’s almost like you’re rising from a comfortable position rather than rising after a setback. There is only a hint of it in the first verse, but overall you did good.
09. Element – Skyline
Mess @ the first lyric, seriously kill me.
This was honestly more than I could have hoped for. It screams of comeback, but it’s not a predicable mess of clichés, its so personal to how you were eliminated and I love that you’ve used the theme of time and night/day to symbolize your comeback. You really made this challenge my own and I believe every single word. You’ve kept that personal meaning but it’s not forced or anything, for the most part it’s a well-worded song. Great job.
10. HausofNiko – Phoenix
This kind of reminds me of little sister to “Little Birds”, or more accurately, a big sister, since my song was just an intro. I figured somebody would use some phoenix imagery, and you’ve managed to do so without it seeming really obvious and cliché. I loved the lyric, “I see the judgment running through your veins,” that was great. It was somewhat simple but there were great moments and it fit the challenge well.
11. wesleywalrus – Shooting Star
I like that you’ve decided to include some space imagery and intertwined that throughout. I think you could have even taken that a step further and make the whole song orbit ( ) around a central space metaphor but this is still probably the best song I’ve seen from you. It’s definitely a comeback song and the space imagery helps elevate it from being too predictable, even if some of the rhyming and non-space related lyrics are. Overall, I liked your entry.
12. Colton Haynes – Bulletproof
I did find this song a bit too surface level and predictable. The highlight of the song was the centerpiece, the chorus, and the title lyric, “I’m not bulletproof / but I’ll make it through,” so you did a good job of making the most important part shine, but really that’s all that does. The rest all feels familiar; it’s all been done before. You did well as far as the challenge goes but lyrically it missed the mark.
13. Truffle. – See Those Stars?
I think there was a certain balance of predictable and unique here which was interesting. There were moments of clichés like the crown references in the second verse which I think you could have done something else with but there were also some really great moments too; the title lyric being one, I liked that imagery that the former partner couldn’t see the stars where you’re aiming. Overall, I quite liked it.
01. swiftie13 – Little Soldier Boy
There were lots of positives about this entry. I loved your concept, and I think you executed it tastefully and well. The imagery was on point, I got chills just thinking about the snow. “Red is not a color to be afraid of,” was magnificent. Mentioning Afghanistan was unnecessary; I knew what the song was about. I think three repetitions of the final chorus was a bit much, the minor changes were cute, but only mother/father/lover were necessary (sorry siblings!) Overall this was a fantastic entry.
02. TheCheetahwings – Lonely Holiday
This was pretty sad actually, and thematically something I could imagine Achilles. writing about. The meaning behind the song was a lot stronger than the lyricism at times, but I mean, that’s a pretty minor negative. I think you did a great job overall and (so far) I’d say it’s going to be close between you and swiftie13 since you both went down a similar path by writing a not-so-jolly Christmas song.
03. ClarksonSlays – Christmas Fun
I know I said I don’t like “sexy” Christmas songs, but it was nice and refreshing to have at least one fun Christmas song. The title is horrible, delete it fat, but I laughed throughout the whole thing. The bridge was a bit take it or leave it for me, but I died @ “We’ll both be getting coal this year,” and, “Let’s spread more than Christmas cheer.” There were some messy rhymes but you put a smile on my face so this is definitely getting a good score from me.
