The fact even National Geographic says Australia is a continent, Oceania might be the more inclusive term but generally Australia is still counted as the continent
Its both, Oceania isn't a continent, its a region of the Earth. A continent is a large land mass. Not every country has to be apart of a continent

I mean. Hawaii isn't even in North America. Why would a group of islands in the southeast be a continent. A continent is a large land mass. That's Australia.
