Why do people care so much about record sales?

Artist are not releasing free music. So it matter plus thats the only messure to know if an artist body of work for each era is inpacting more people in general. Like for instance if we are smart enought Run the world is not a flop single. See its spotify stream and youtube views. Its a recognizable song. B has played her card well in some aspect. She may not have pop radio suport. But both eras her music has been known but not viral. Next era I hope it goes viral.

thats not even true. Bey outsold everyone of her peers when one compares the sales from 2003-now sans Taylor and Adele.
If one includes DC, shes below Brit and thats it (with regards to albums-sales only).

I dont get how people can claim shes not a great seller when in fact, she is. Plus her record sales are also super impressive. She had great sales with Say My Name, Independent Woman pt 1, Survivor, Crazy in Love, Irreplaceable, Beautiful Liar, IIWAB, SL, Halo and DrIl. She has sold about ~180 mio records in her entire career. This is super impressive. If you include respect, memorable performances, iconicity, and power to that, Bey remains the most powerful artist we have these days. The Beyhive should not belittle her success only because some wasps try hard to do that. Beys overall career is astonishing, and while others are already on their decline, Bey has proven that she could possibly go strong for another 15 years (up to her 50s just like Tina Turner did). Shes a living legend and we should be proud to stan for her.

The kii is Beyoncé has sold more records than anyone in the thread minus Britney solo career, but her overall career she has outsold every last one listed in the op . Well over 200M records sold since 1997. She's sold more singles, streamed more, grossed more, more Vevo views than all her of peers.
