Part 1 could have been summed up in 10 or 20 minutes

To be honest it's not the movies fault, it's the books. They start off strong and get progressively weaker. The 3rd book (and movie plot line I assume, though haven't seen the final yet) is a damn all-over-the-place mess and my literal reaction and thoughts when I read it were just this - what a messy, war zone-esque plot. The first phew books are in this incredible controlled environment and it had so many metaphors and made statements on things like the media, violence, war and the value of human life, but the last book loses all of that. It's not a well structured story, plus the ending is awful.
