For the first time this year, the No.1 single and album both belong to the same person, that being Adele who debuts at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart with “25”, and the lead single from her third set “Hello” retains its No.1 hold on the ARIA Singles Chart for a fifth straight week.
By holding at No.1 for a fifth week, “Hello” now becomes the second longest running chart-topper for 2015, behind the six weeks that “See You Again” for Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth achieved in April and May. And although I mentioned it’s the first time this year that both No.1’s for ARIA are occupied by the same person, it’s actually the second time that the album and single have been from the same source, as Ellie Goulding’s March No.1 “Love Me Like You Do” was at the top the same time the soundtrack for the film it was featured in “Fifty Shades of Grey” was at No.1, staying both at the top for three weeks (23-Feb to 9-March).
This is the second time that Adele has been at the top of both charts; back in late June until early August of 2011 “Someone Like You” (TW-41) and her second album “21” spent seven weeks at the top together. The last time that happened for a song and artist was this week last year (1-Dec-2014) when Taylor Swift and her “1989” album shared the top spot with “Blank Space” for a single week, and overall this is the 122nd time that the top of both charts in Australia have been shared by the same act/album. Adele also climbs from eighth to No.7 on the list of ‘Accumulated Weeks at No.1: Singles, 2010’s’ now that she has racked up twelve total weeks at the top in Australia, placing her one spot behind Katy Perry on 13 weeks this decade.
Last week Justin Bieber had eleven songs in the Top 100, as he does again this week too, and once again he also has three single within the Top 10, with last weeks highest new entry “Love Yourself” rising one spot to a new peak of No.2, swapping with his former four weeks running No.2 song “Sorry” which is down a place to No.3 this week and newly certified Platinum in sales, whilst his former No.1 “What Do You Mean” holds at No.7 again this week.

I think Adele & Ed Sheeran are gonna both have 2 albums each in the top 5 Australian all time best selling albums list. Ed is already #4 & #8. Adele #3.
