You have to remember a lot of the sales were pre-orders too.

Seeing how well loved Adele is on social media Im not even surprised. She is very possibly the most universally liked artist of all time. People just connect with her and her relatable music. I also see so many comments saying they bought her CD when they havent bought a CD in years.
And it's not like they can take from one store and send to another.
