A New York-based tattoo artist whose work has appeared on the skin of numerous celebrities gave non-famous fans a chance to get one of his signature designs. The catch? The nonpaying customers were given no input into the design, and they couldn't see their new body art until it was done.

Scott Campbell, 38, charges clients at least $1,000 for one of his tats — which is not a problem for his better known customers, who have included Marc Jacobs, Orlando Bloom, Josh Hartnett, Robert Downey Jr., and Penélope Cruz.

But the ink master recently gave his more budget-conscious fans the opportunity to sit for a Scott Campbell original, as long as they were willing to put complete trust in him and allow him to give them mystery tattoo through a small whole in a wall.
