Adele is the female Eminem. She's not going to have a commercial backlash. Eminem is still going for the most part, and he's been releasing the same music over and over. Adele will be safe. Bank on it.
A lot of people are under the misconception that Adele is viewed as a pure popstar by the masses and has to change her image all the time to keep people interested.
That's obviously not the case at all and as long as her voice remains intact and she will make music she will reasonate with people very easily and lead a nice successful career.

I'm not talking about a commercial backlash. I'm talking about the fact that her album is the sonic equivalent of a Nicholas Sparks novel, which people need some time and perspective to recognize. But they will. Not that it will hurt her -- Nicholas Sparks still sells like crazy.

I know it's pretentious of me, but I have to say - if it's a true, gripping expression of pain and emotion you want, then I'd recommend the album of the year Björk's Vulnicura.

I was just agreeing with Cap who said that she doesn't have to fear any commercial backlash.
Even if people end up growing more critical of the album as time passes(which is just a possibility not a fact) it will still most likely age better than most other pop albums that are put out these days due to the universal lyrics and still stellar vocal performances.
