Daniel Rand is the son of Wendell Rand, who had, as a youth, visited the mystic city of K'un-Lun, which materialized in the Himalayas once a decade; founded roughly a million years ago by extraterrestrials, K'un-Lun was co-ruled by the aliens' descendants and powerful beings called the Dragon Kings, who were themselves subject to the godlike sorcerer Master Khan. Rand had saved the life of K'un-Lun's ruler Lord Tuan, who adopted Rand as his heir, to the resentment of Tuan's son, Yu-Ti. During his time in K'un-Lun, Rand married a woman named Shakari and fathered a daughter, Miranda Rand-K'ai.

Now, Comicbook.com has confirmed (with help from our friends at HH) that Iron Fist isn’t just moving forward, but has chosen a showrunner. Scott Buck, who served as EP on Dexter, and a producer on Six Feet Under, will take the reigns of the fourth and final solo series with Marvel and Netflix before they meet for a Defenders mini-series.
Marvel describes Iron Fist as follows: "Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."

Netflix should launch a live action X-Men series. I'd be all over that! With maybe a different set of mutants.
Or a Ms. Marvel series.

Game of Thrones star Finn Jones has been cast as the lead in the upcoming Iron Fist drama series at the streaming giant, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
As first reported by EW, Jones — who stars as Ser Loras Tyrell in the HBO fantasy drama — will play the title role of Daniel Rand, aka Iron Fist. The character is described as handsome and sophisticated, independent and a loner.
Iron Fist centers on Daniel Rand, who fights against the criminal elements corrupting New York with his kung fu skills and ability to summon the power of the fiery Iron Fist. The series picks up with Rand returning to the Big Apple after having gone missing for several years.
Dexter's Scott Buck is on board to serve as showrunner on the drama, which marks the fourth of Marvel's five-series deal with Netflix. He'll join Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage stars Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter, respectively, in the fifth series — The Defenders mini.
For Jones, the role comes after his breakout performance in Game of Thrones, which returns next month on HBO. His credits include Life in Squares and Hollyoaks. He's repped by APA, NB Management and Curtis Brown Group in the U.K.
