'I'm too scared to look in the mirror because I'm disgusted with my own image': Bullied schoolgirl born without an anus makes courageous speech in truly inspiring video
New Zealand teenager Aiesha, 14, addressed her peers with a message about what makes people 'normal'
Born without an anus or rectum, no inside vaginal organs and no cervix or uterus, she has become a victim of cruel daily taunts
The emotional speech, posted by her mother on YouTube, shows the brave teen fighting back tears as she asks the audience to withhold their pity
A brave schoolgirl has challenged the perception of 'normal' in a new and empowering speech captured on YouTube, after she was born with an invisible disorder that has affected every aspect of growing up.
Aiesha was born without an anus or rectum, no inside vaginal organs and no cervix or uterus and is also missing one kidney.
Now, fighting back tears as she addresses peers at Wanganui Girls’ College, the New Zealand teen is filmed taking a courageous stand against bullies who made her question just how 'normal' she was.
Tormented on a daily basis, the 14-year-old explains that she's never been to a sleepover, attended a summer camp unless accompanied by an aid or been able to go swimming with the school.
She begins: 'What does "normal" mean? Who is "normal"? What is "normal"? One thing I know is being "normal" isn't the same as feeling "normal". Being "normal" is doing things everyone else does.'
Day-to-day, the brave schoolgirl has had to take precautions for everything, even the things that her peers consider regular, and she recounts how it has made her the subject of cruel taunts.
Aiesha has been admitted to hospital regularly since birth but recently had an appendavesicostomy, an end colostomy, a rectum and an anus to facilitate the way that she lives.
