This Ashley guy just stepped in to prevent that because the woman was, from the story at least, clearly too frightened (and understandably so) to do so herself. It literally hasn't a damn thing to do with race. Would you have been happier if he had just sat there and just watched her be abused and potentially even killed? This story isn't even in the slightest about praising the guy, but is rather about bringing up the much needed discussion of Islamophobia.
