States rejecting refugees are the same states who have drafted racist laws regarding immigrants, took years to remove old laws from their constitutions (aka South Carolina officially legalizing interracial marriage in the early 2000s or Mississippi finally banning slavery not so long ago, too), sued to get gay marriage illegal again, etc.

So tbh refugees are probably better in a more progressive area anyway! Who has time for that
