Its not pointless.
prEp is honestly supposed to be used alongside condoms to prevent HIV and STD infection. Its like plan b, its just more protection. just like the pill is technically supposed to still be used with a condom as well.
the point of prEp is to prevent hiv infection though. and tbh thats the worst possible risk of having sex, yes gonorrhea and chlamydia and syphilis are all bad BUT they're curable. hiv is something you have to live with for the rest of your life. its not saying, other std's do not matter, its just targeting the one that obviously takes the most toll on your life.
and for anyone that argues hiv is no longer a death sentence that may be correct, but having to take a myriad of pills for the rest of your life and dealing with side effects of said pills and your illness can prove to not exactly be the best quality of life either.
