The top 5* hit!
Genesis
Concept: Premonition
Word: Quietism; calm acceptance of things as they are without attempts to resist or change them.
Verse One
Naked and afraid I awoke
Discovering I was alone
Confounded by my being here
I felt my lungs breathe in new air
I cowered as I touched my own skin
Perturbed by this foreign body
As I surveyed my surroundings
There was nothing else quite like me
Was this all an indiscretion?
A twisted game where I'm the victim?
I asked the wind for any answers
It left me cold without direction
While drowning in my disarray
My spirit began to decay
I gave into the night and slept
My dreams revealed secrets time kept
Chorus One
A shooting star fell from the heavens
To explain what I was given
In a form so nebulous
She spoke to me with elegance
Have no fear, son, I'm your mother
The matter of which you come from
The very dust that birthed the cosmos
I'll guide you through all the chaos
I come to free you of confusion
To reveal your destined future
But you must not tell a soul
Or try to change the way things go
This is your fragile genesis
This is where your life begins
You are the very first human
Adam, man is your descendant
Verse Two
Frightened by this information
Curious for the revelations
I listened to the words she said
Of what would become of us men
Her eyes burned bright with red fury
As she mentioned war and misery
Greedy hunger, murder, violence
and man's determined opulence
Yet her gaze softened gradually
With her voice low she said to me
You are gifted with sentiment
My imperfect experiment
You'll be able to feel it all
The purity of children's hearts
The solace of a lover's touch
The fortress of a mother's love
Chorus Two
The shooting star that fell from heaven
To explain what I was given
Had formed conflict within my soul
Far too grand for me to ignore
I started to fear I'd become
The very source of destruction
I looked above into the cosmos
As my mind processed the chaos
She had increased my delusions
When she told my distant future
Yet she had left my heart intrigued
After she spoke of love and peace
Knowing all the wonders we could bring
I developed a deep longing
To see what came out of the hands
Of my future my descendants
Bridge
Naked and afraid I awoke
But this time I was not alone
There was someone else just like me
She told me that her name was Eve
Should I tell her of my visions?
Will she even believe in them?
No, I should take them to the grave
No matter what, nothing will change
I want to know how music sounds
To lift my body from the ground
As we achieve the art of flight
I want to feel complex inside
Yet with all these innovations
Come dangerous burdens for us
But there will be activism
To counter the quietism
We are a riveting creature
I won't let evil influence me
And so I take Eve by the hand
To explore this strange new land
Chorus 3
The shooting star that fell from heaven
To explain what I was given
Proved to be a prophetic dream
Only I know man's destiny
A celestial intervention
My sole source of comprehension
Looking up, I pray to the cosmos
To forgive impending chaos
Hoping the bad we bring about
Will be worth the good that we sprout
Therefore I won't tell a soul
Or try to change the way things go
I may be a little naive
But I've seen what we can achieve
I hope the earth understands
The presence of my descendants
It's about Adam, the first human, coming into the world not knowing what or were he is. He falls asleep and gets visited by a star that tells him of the future of humans. Adam feels conflicted because of the good and bad he hears. Eventually he wakes up and finds Eve but decides to not tell her anything. He came to the conclusion that love as the star described it was worth all the pain in the future so he's just gonna live his life and hopes humans don't destroy the world. It's basically the opening track to my PH8 album that begins with blind optimism. The closing track is Mother where we find out humans did indeed destroy earth.
