This thread was inspired by MasterXPosed's Enhanced CD thread. Some deluxe editions of albums used to include DVDs with music videos, behind-the-scenes footage and other bonus features. These still exist but 90% of special editions nowadays only include a CD (of course, with bonus tracks). Do you miss it when these multi-disc combos were everywhere?
well... nah... we have youtube now and everything is already there...
Nevertheless, it was something that added value to the deluxe package. You were essentially paying the same for a CD+DVD combo as you are now for a deluxe edition that only has 2 bonus tracks.
Kylie just released Kylie Christmas which has a deluxe edition with 6 videos
Her last album also had behind the scenes of album photoshoot, track commentary, music video, behind the scenes of the video. Some still do it
The fact that labels have the audacity to label an album "deluxe" now because it has two extra bonus tracks or crappy remixes of the lead single is such a rip off.
Every album should come with a bonus DVD consisting of live performances of the tracks or a full concert. It's such a cheap way to get more fans to buy the deluxe version IMO. Charge $18.99 instead of $9.99. It could make double/triple the profit just by recording a 60-minute acoustic performance or even video recording an existing/past tour. I don't understand why artists don't do something like that...it's so weird to me. I would buy a Lana Del Rey or Madonna album that came with an exclusive DVD of their concert for $50 tbh, providing the quality of sound is good and the concert is well produced/executed.
I have Miley's CBT deluxe with the wonder world dvd and Breakout Platinum which includes some live performances and ****, also have Fearless Platinum by taylor

yeah I agree on that. They could do something special tho... Beyonce did great thing with self titled
I'm torn. While I love the content, I don't care for the package.
Try This had a bonus DVD with the Trouble video and an interview but the flip out broke and I had to replace it with one from a PlayStation game I had at the time. I'm Not Dead came with a DualDisc (horrible idea) with Stupid Girls and U + Ur Hand videos and BTS/Making of/interview and the IND Platinum Edition (let me go check brb okay it does have a separate DVD) with all of the videos + BTS and other content. P!nk didn't do a bonus again until her greatest hits package which included most of her videos.
But back to what I was saying about the packaging, I don't really care for them. If the DVD is on the flip side of a jewel case (the standard plastic one) it can easily break. The Platinum Edition and the greatest hits came in cardboard which is annoying since it's more likely to be exposed to wear and tear.

The DVD quality is low though. Unless they use Blu-ray it's pointless might as well use youtube.
