Yokai Watch does not use the same dex clasification as Pokémon and the forms take their own space in the desk. Jibanyan has like, 10 different forms and area variations and they all got their own dex number, for example

Or is that not how region locking works

The best part of Level 5 and Nintendo collabs when bringing their games to the west is that they air the anime in every country's language and use the same voice actors for the game, which is translated to a bunch of languages too. I could import the AUS game, but I would end up playing it in english, while the spanish localization, at least, it's a pretty good effort that also matches what you see on TV.

The demo doesn't make the battle system justice imo, in the full game it opens up more and more and in the end it's actually addicting, but it's kind of hard to get into it at first. Also, the difficulty remains normal through most of the main story, but when the final boss and the secret bosses hit, it's really challenging. The first game does suffer from being a bit too simple at first regarding the battle system, but that's fixed in Gen 2.
