All the people that get on The Voice gain social media followers, so if they upload an original song somewhere, it's bound to be listened to by more than 100 people (as long as they strike while the iron is hot), which is a struggle for 99% of new artists. Also, it's easier for them to get a booking agent or a management, because they were on national TV.

So, The Voice gives them recognition and momentum. They just have to know what to do with it, instead of sit back and expect to become an overnight sensation. The industry doesn't have the power it had when Kelly Clarkson made it. Which is why Idol and XFUS (minus 5H) haven't produced any big stars for years.

PP's the closest, but he's had a total of 2 T40 hits and his 2nd album as mentioned is probably sub-200k after a year and a half.

The last alum with 2 albums to sell half a mil is from S5; the last alum with 3 T40 hits is from S6, 8.5 years ago.
