The lack of self awareness in this thread. Calling an album generic on a pop music fourm has to be the most hilarious thing in the world. That with the pairing of what they describe as "non-generic" music is their top 40 pandering fave just adds to it.
ARTPOP is a great album. It is very cohesive (sonically, not thematically/ lyrically but that's sorta the point), passionate and further delves in to the mind of Lady Gaga. It's her first album that doesn't really have a clear concept (The Fame = celebrity life, Monster = the bad side of fame after experiencing it, BTW = self-love) and it feels a lot more personable. Plus, the production is fantastic and with good earphones you can really hear the complexities of the production.
My only problem with it, is that I would like it to be shorter. The majority of the album is great, but I would rather have 10 great tracks than 10 great tracks and 5 good tracks. She can scrap Dope, Gypsy, Jewels & Drugs and Fashion!. They're good/ great songs, but the album would flow better without them.

i completely disagree about the depth or personality. it's such a shallow, heartless album it's not even funny.
however, i agree on the production. i think it came out really well!

Where did I state otherwise? I didn't. Thank you, Ken.

Different strokes I guess.
I love the lyrics, but people look for different things in pop music. Sometimes the lyrics come across as stupid and pretentious, but that's just Gaga. Part of her appeal to me.

This entire post is hilarious for reasons I shouldn't say but
Anyway, I like artpop. It would've been even more successful had she waited to release and chosen DWUW as the lead instead of applause. But who cares? Artpop is in the past.

right? Prism and ARTPOP were disgraces to each artist's discography
though, Prism is at least consistent...ly mediocre
Artpop has 1-2 high highs, but mostly REALLY low lows

This. I thoroughly love the songs even the really pretentious songs like Donatella, they're satirical and not meant to be taken serious. Also when you think about it, the songs are supposed to be impersonal and out there, like pop art is with its crazy colours.

It's nothing special or something to be impressed of but not as bad as some people want to make it out to be. The dance part is really good but she tried it collaborating with rapers and that was a wrecked train... Also, Dope is the worst song of her discography.

Outdated, horrible production and at times lyrics only made to sound "good" to the ears and mean nothing. It was a HUGE letdown after the superb "Born This Way" in every single aspect

She just name dropped a few artists here and there with the occasional "Artpop" and presented it as some masterpiece, which honestly it's not when you have terrible lyrics and production. And the whole telling us how to listen to the album because our laptop speakers would be inferior for this album.... Yikes I can play the album through my parents expensive sound system and it still won't change the lyrics/ production.
The only songs I use are: GUY, DWUW, Venus and Gypsy.

Too noisy for my taste and almost no replay value, I mean all of her album are into my 10 most played album, ARTPOP didn't make it
