To be honest, it's happening in the entire western world. There is so much hate and racism maybe it's the refugee crisis but there is something going on. I think that there is a generational gap between our generation and the older generations. Many of them vote for right-wing parties while a huge part of our generation is liberal and progressive (but sadly in the minority).
Not a civil war, but I wouldn't be surprised if racial violence broke out sometime next year around election time.
Between black/white relations being at an all-time low, and the republican xenophobia targeting Hispanics.....
Racial tensions have been brewing forever here in the U.S. Laws change but people don't. Take a look at gay marriage. Just because it is recognized as a constitutional right doesn't mean people still accept it (see Kim Davis). The dominance of social media has given minorities a voice and it is making some white people feel uncomfortable as they would prefer to stay in their 'we are all human, racism ended in the 1950s' bubble. That side is low key fuming and I can see it escalating for sure.

Do you honestly think they're at all all time low right now? Sis, crack open a history book
No but in all seriousness, it's a slight possibility, but I don't think it will go that far. However, a lot of people (especially prejudiced white people) aren't gonna be able to turn a blind eye anymore, it's simply unacceptable to be that ignorant of what's going on nowadays.
There's so much more than race troubles going on. You've got colorblind income inequality, the constant slippage of our constitutional rights and a myriad of other issues. There's going to come a time when the people aren't going to take any more of it.
It's really not even a question of if it's going to happen. It's coming
