Honestly this just sounds like an imaginative child to me, if a child is changing their gender every other day or other week its really unfair for the parents to label their child transgender but also as a child care worker she should have just gone along with it. Its one of those times when you don't have the right to correct a child if they say they are a boy today and then come back the next day and say they are a girl, you just go along with it. The woman made good points about sending letters home and it being a distraction for the other children but thats where you have to step in as a child care worker and inform the children about bullying or taunting and why its wrong, she shouldn't have been trying to change the child or tell them whether they were a boy or a girl she should have been more focused on correcting the behavior of the other children.

This is actually an interesting story. I will like to see further news about what is going to happen when they end up suing. I just don't know how I feel about this yet.

Not sure how I feel about this. Educators today need more training dealing with these kind of things, but I am not sure if she deserved to lose her job.

I think we'll be hearing more stories like this. With trans people and issues making the news and being a part of pop culture, there will be children who say they're the other gender without really knowing what it means.

It's like that episode of Modern Family where Lily thought she was gay because her parents are gay. Like if two Italians have a baby, that baby is Italian. It's along the same principle. Not to discount transgendered people but children don't know the deeper meaning of what they see going on in the world

Tbh, it sounds like the parents are confusing the child with trans talk that's above his/her years. To not have made a decision of whether your a boy or a girl at 6, I kinda side with the teacher. I don't believe in her "beliefs" but the child needs to be brought up as one or the other. And then can make a decision when they are old enough to understands what it means..

Switching from identity because you're not old enough to understand, isn't going to make them happy growing up its going to make them even more confused and potentially unhappy as either.

Growing up is hard enough without adults telling you "if you want to be this then your trans" etc. It's too early let them figure it out. There's a difference between wanting to wear a dress as kid for dress up, then wanting to be identified differently.

Keep your religion out of the workplace. Its not too much to ask. If you care about your religion to the point it dictates your life then become a nun or jesuit. But of course they wont give up their life to Jesus only when its convenient for them.

The woman is just using religion to hide her blatant transphobia lmao. It just so happens that in this particular instance the child may not even be trans and may be too young to tell. I can't believe this is even a news story. The child could have just been moved into a different class in which the teacher doesn't care and that would be that.
