What is your opinion on people protecting their fave by saying "at least I'm not living in the past"?
Is for example Katy Perry selling 3 million copies with PRISM in 2013 really more impressive than someone like Britney Spears selling 25 million copies of an album in the late 90s?
PRISM sold 4M, and no it's not more impressive but comparing two artists more recent eras is more substantial proof of longevity than something from the 90s
There's nothing wrong with acknowledging somebody's achievements in the past. I mean they did achieve it once and that won't change, and so they should be praised for that. You just have to realise their current situation as well.
