It didn’t flop, but unsurprisingly since it just used what was hot at the time, it is not remembered at all. It’s actually almost completely forgotten.

While it didn't completely go a different route, there was at least an evolution musically.

What do you mean? I just meant, it used a sound that was trendy at the time, and thus once that sound is no longer in favour, the song is forgotten / passé.
Nah but its sales aren't very impressive for a number 1.. but it's better to have a number 1 and "flop" instead of just being flop..
The release wasn't handled very well. She didn't release the video or perform it until like over a month after it topped the charts, it was stupid
It was an airplay based hit which had decent debut numbers, but after that it started plummeting. Not to mention that the song did not even go top 10 in at least 10 countries, it only did "good" in the US.
However, it isn't a big hit....it was super front loaded due to hype, and fell pretty fast after the hype went away. There are songs that peaked outside the Top 10 that were bigger hits overall.
Calling it a flop is a bit too much, but it wasn't that much of a hit either. Its stats are disastrous for a song that hit #1 in 2011. (Many songs that didn't peak at #1 outsold it or are close to. See this thread for more information.) This applies to most countries like the U.K. where it hasn't reached 200k sales yet despite reaching the top 10. Let's not forget it also took four years to pass 100 million views on Vevo. It also has very poor Spotify streams for a 2011 song that's supposed to be an impactful #1.
