True, I forgot about Kate, but Grimes plays all the instruments on her album too; which includes piano, guitar, and violin. Something Kate didn't do :/

In Kate's era she didn't have anywhere near the technology that Grimes has access to so it's not a good comparison imo. Both ladies should be celebrated.

Love MIA but is she really a one woman show? She uses cowriters and coproducers (which is completely OK). The issue with her was that her male collaborators (Diplo and Switch mainly) received most of the credit for the production on the album when she had just as much/more input.
I'm sure there are some names from the 70s that have done it before but it's a huge claim for ANYONE and a true testament to their skill, their talent, and their body of work.
Off the top of my head I can't think of any major solo females who fully produced, recorded and sang their entire albums... I think even Carole King had producers right?

MIA deserves a lot of credit, more than she gets, but she is not a one woman show. Only other artist is Kate Bush.
Yes. It honestly amazes me how cohesive and well crafted AA is and was absolutely worth the wait. Poor the other fans why can't embrace Grimes' identity.
