Fans should never pick lead singles. Fans should never pick singles period. Lead singles have to appeal to more than just a small group of hardcore fans. Artists should use focus group testing involving randomly selected individuals to pick singles.

Chris Stapleton will repeat at #1 on this Friday’s charts with album sales somewhere in the 85-90k range. He’ll also top our SPS chart around 110-115k. Eric Church will likely land in the runner-up position with 65-70k albums and 70-75k including tracks and streams. Here are today’s updated new release projections.

she should have sold her album for 10.99 like adele's is and she would have at least gotten in the 75-80k range at least

HDD is underestimating Ellie's SPS numbers so much. Those are really bad numbers, but gurl, what can you expect when that album is so expensive?

Ouch at Eric. He thought he was slick and would get to grab 2 #1 weeks with that early release, and now he'll get 0.
If he'd released it on Friday, that would be 70-75k this week + 76k last week = perhaps 150k units and easily #1.

Quite a dropoff from his last album though, which had a 288k first week in actual sales...I guess it's that "loyal country fanbase" ATRL is always going on about.
